Molly McCann and Diana Belbita are set to meet in the octagon again.
The UFC announced Wednesday that McCann and Belita are booked for a strawweight bout that takes place at an upcoming Feb. 3 UFC APEX event. This is a rematch of their flyweight encounter in October 2019 that McCann won by unanimous decision.
It was McCann (13-6) who spoiled Belbita’s UFC debut four years ago in a bout that produced a rare scorecard as McCann won with 30-25 scores across the board. Belbita was penalized a point for a fence grab in the second round, which McCann dominated en route to a 10-7 score. Following that fight, McCann has gone 3-4, including a three-fight win streak capped off by back-to-back highlight-reel knockouts of Hannah Goldy and Luana Carolina.
Consecutive losses in her two most recent appearances have prompted “Meatball” to drop down to the 115-pound division.
Belbita (15-8) welcomes her, coming off of a decision loss to Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The Romanian fighter, currently based in Canada, made her own move to strawweight back in 2021. She is 2-2 since, with decision wins over Maria Oliveira and Goldy.
The Feb. 3 UFC APEX event is scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight bout between Roman Dolidze and Nassourdine Imavov.
