Neiman Gracie will attempt to bounce back from the first defeat of his professional career when he faces Kiichi Kunimoto at Bellator 236.
ESPN was first to report the welterweight matchup. Bellator 236 takes place on Dec. 21 at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu and is headlined by a flyweight championship tilt between Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Kate Jackson.
After beginning his pro tenure with nine consecutive victories, Gracie suffered a five-round decision defeat to Rory MacDonald in the semifinals of the welterweight grand prix at Bellator 222. Gracie’s most notable win came in the bracket’s quarterfinals, when he tapped out Ed Ruth at Bellator 213.
Kunimoto, a veteran of organizations such as the UFC, Pancrase and Rizin, came up short in his promotional debut, falling to Ruth via second-round TKO at Bellator 224 on July 12. The 38-year-old owns a 20-8-2 professional mark that also includes one no contest.
