Noche UFC Weigh-in Results: Veteran Blows Weight by 5 Pounds

The Ultimate Fighting Championship‘s yearly Noche UFC card may end up with a baker’s dozen bouts when it is all said and done.

The UFC Fight Night card’s main event will see former featherweight title challenger Diego Lopes take on rising contender Jean Silva. Both headliners made weight without a problem. The same could not be said for every athlete on the billing, as former welterweight Kelvin Gastelum exceeded the middleweight limit by five pounds ahead of his pairing with Dustin Stoltzfus. Stoltzfus has still accepted a catchweight contest with his foe at 191 pounds, with the heavy former “The Ultimate Fighter” winner receiving a 35% fine of his purse.

Lopes (26-7) is looking to rebound after losing a decision to Alexander Volkanovski in their vacant featherweight title fight. The Brazilian is just 30 years of age, so there’s still plenty of time left for Lopes to earn another bid at gold. Prior wins over Brian Ortega, Dan Ige and Sodiq Yusuff solidified the Lobo Gym MMA member as a top contender. Lopes officially weighed 146 pounds on the dot.

Meanwhile, Silva (16-2) is undefeated since joining the UFC. “Lord” has become a fan-favorite due to his violent finishes inside the Octagon. Past victims include Bryce Mitchell, Drew Dober and Charles Jourdain. The 28-year-old will look to earn a title shot with the win and came in at 145.5 pounds.

Noche UFC will air in its entirety on ESPN+ on Saturday. Prelims begin at 3 p.m. ET/noon PT, while the main card kicks off at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
