Della Maddalena will defend his undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight crown against Islam Makhachev in the UFC 322 main event on Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York. While Pimblett isn’t sure how the fight will play out, he’s rooting for Della Maddalena. “The Baddy” believes Della Maddalena can definitely outclass Makhachev if the fight stays on the feet.

Pimblett isn’t rooting against Makhachev without cause. Ilia Topuria won the vacant UFC lightweight title after the Russian vacated the 155-pound throne to move up in weight. Pimblett wants the next title shot against the Spaniard. However, Makhachev recently dismissed the notion of the 30-year-old Englishman posing any threat to Topuria. He also questioned the legitimacy of Pimblett as a title contender, pointing to the caliber of his wins. Pimblett challenged Makhachev to move back to lightweight and fight him.
While Makhachev is riding a 15-fight winning streak in the UFC, Della Maddalena has rattled off 18 straight victories since he lost his first two pro bouts in 2016. Makhachev defended his lightweight title four times before moving up to 170 pounds. Meanwhile, Della Maddalena won the welterweight championship with a unanimous decision over Belal Muhammad in May.
