Dakota Ditcheva could have some new challenges in the coming months.
Professional Fighters League has signed former UFC talents Ariane Lipski da Silva and Viviane Araujjo to compete in the flyweight division, Sherdog confirmed with a promotion official on Monday. Dominance MMA head Ali Abdelaziz initially announced the signings.
Da Silva, Araujo Enjoyed Lengthy UFC Tenures
A former KSW champion, da Silva exited the UFC on the heels of successive losses to Karine Silva, Jasmine Jasudavicius and Cong Wang. The 31-year-old Brazilian went 6-8 during a tenure with the Las Vegas-based organization that began in 2019.
Araujo, meanwhile, joins the PFL after a 7-6 Octagon stint. The 38-year-old Brazilian last appeared at UFC 317, where she dropped a unanimous decision to Tracy Cortez on June 28. “Vivi” earned triumphs over the likes of Alexis Davis, Roxanne Modafferi, Andrea Lee, Jennifer Maia and Karine Silva in UFC competition.
New PFL CEO John Martin recently announced that the league will simplify its championship system to provide more clarity to its title picture going forward. While Ditcheva is not the promotion’s current flyweight queen, she captured 125-pound championship in PFL Europe in 2023 and during the PFL season format in 2024. As the perhaps the biggest name on the roster, Ditcheva figures to be one-half of any women’s flyweight title bout in the near future.
