PFL Africa Breaks Ground with Electric Open Workout in Congo

The Professional Fighters League continues to break ground and barriers throughout the world. With a focus on expanding mixed martial arts worldwide throughout its international leagues PFL Europe and PFL MENA, the organization will launch PFL Africa on July 19.

Ahead of the debut event happening in Cape Cod, South Africa, fighters competing on the PFL Africa card took part in an open workout in Kinshasa, Congo. Take a look at the video below, which highlights Juliet Ukah and Ceileigh Niedermayr, who electrified locals with their workouts and continued to raise awareness surrounding the PFL’s launch in Africa.

“I am excited and honored to serve as Chairman of PFL Africa, a league that will shape the very foundation of African MMA,” PFL Africa Chairman Francis Ngannou said in a 2024 press release. “As we have seen there is a great wealth of talent in Africa just waiting to be given a global stage. I am so very proud to give back to my homeland and to provide great content to a region with such a passionate and diverse fanbase.”

Now with its third international league set to take center stage, PFL continuously is building plans to grow MMA globally. While PFL Africa will take the spotlight this year, the company has already announced the 2026 launch of PFL Pacific, which will feature fighters from the Oceanic region of Australia and New Zealand.

“It has been a priority of ours to bring the Professional Fighters League to Australia and the Pacific region, delivering our world-class brand of MMA and the sport’s biggest stars to local fans,” said PFL CEO Peter Murray.
