Davis took exception to recent remarks made by Joe Rogan regarding the superiority of the UFC to other mixed martial arts organizations such as the PFL. Rogan has been a color commentator for the UFC since 1997, long before he achieved great fame in the podcast realm.

“It’s the name,” Rogan said on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “It is the combat sports’ leader, and if you’re not in the UFC, I don’t care. You can go to the PFL and you can win that million dollar tournament, and I’m all for that ….But the reality is, part of what you’re doing is you’re trying to be the best, and if you’re going to be the best, you kind of have to be in the UFC. That’s just what it is.”
Davis took to social media to point to a number of current PFL athletes that stand out in contrast to Rogan’s assertion. One of those is current UFC bantamweight queen Kayla Harrison, who rose to prominence as a two-division champion under the PFL banner prior to signing with the Las Vegas-based promotion. Harrison is slated to defend her 135-pound belt against Amanda Nunes in the UFC 324 co-main event on Jan. 24.
“Joe, is this really true?” Davis wrote on X. “When Kayla Harrison was 16-1 in [the PFL], was she not a top fighter? You saying that [Harrison] only became a top fighter with three wins (all as a very heavy favorite) in a different organization just because it has three different letters?”

Davis continued by mentioning a number of PFL standouts, including the likes of Francis Ngannou, Dakota Ditcheva, Cristiane Justino, Usman Nurmagomedov, Corey Anderson, Paul Hughes and Vadim Nemkov.
“Seems to me that many top fighters are in the PFL,” Davis added.
The PFL will hold its first event of 2026 on Feb. 7 in Dubai highlighted by a lightweight title tilt between Nurmagomedov and Alfie Davis. PFL Road to Dubai will also feature a welterweight championship clash between Ramazan Kuramagomedov and Shamil Musaev. The card will air on the ESPN app in the United States.
