Russia Meets Brazil in Key Heavyweight Pairing at UFC 321

A former title holder in Bellator and M-1 Global, Volkov has hovered around contention in the UFC’s heavyweight division for years. The Russian suffered a contentious split-decision defeat to Ciryl Gane — the potential next title challenger for current champ Tom Aspinall — in his most recent Octagon appearance at UFC 310. Prior to that, “Drago” had secured successive triumphs over Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Romanov, Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich. His ledger also includes notable triumphs over the likes of Marcin Tybura, Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum and Roy Nelson.

Almeida began his career at 205 pounds before moving up to heavyweight. The Brazilian is 8-1 in UfC competition, with his lone defeat coming at the hands of Curtis Blaydes at UFC 299. Since then, “Maladihho” has rebounded to post back-to-back first-round finishes of Romanov and Serghei Spivac.
