The UFC Vancouver headliner just lost a little bit of intrigue — at least as it pertains to the middleweight title picture.
The Las Vegas-based promotion on Monday announced that Brendan Allen will replace Anthony Hernandez and face Reinier de Ridder in the UFC Fight Night 262 main event on Oct. 18. A reason for Hernandez’s exit was not announced. De Ridder vs. Hernandez was expected to produce a potential challenger for reigning 185-pound king Khamzat Chimaev.

Allen Has Plenty of UFC Experience
As far as fill-ins go, Allen is a worthy adversary for de Ridder. “All In” has compiled a 13-4 mark in UFC competition since his debut in 2019, earning victories over the likes of Marvin Vettori, Chris Curtis, Paul Craig, Andre Muniz and Kevin Holland, among others. However, he does have losses to Hernandez and Nassourdine Imavov — generally regarded as two of the top three contenders at 185 pounds.
A former two-division title holder in ONE Championship, de Ridder has kicked off his promotional tenure with four consecutive triumphs. He earned his most significant victory at UFC on ABC 9 on July 26, when he defeated ex-champ Robert Whittaker via split decision. He also owns wins against the likes of Bo Nickal, Holland and Gerald Meerschaert in the Octagon.
