It appears that Jake Paul could be pivoting to a much larger opponent for his next fight.
After a potential booking against Gervonta Davis scheduled for Nov. 14 fell through due to domestic violence allegations against “Tank,” a heavyweight clash between Paul and Anthony Joshua is close to being finalized, according to a report from Ring Magazine. The proposed bout would take place this December in Miami, but the exact date and venue were not confirmed. The fight against Davis was criticized due to the 65-pound weight difference between Paul and his opponent.

Paul owns a 12-1 professional boxing record. “The Problem Child” made his name beating former MMA stars such as Nate Diaz, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Mike Perry and Anderson Silva. While he has expressed interest in more legitimate opponents, his last Netflix outing against a 58-year-old Mike Tyson drew massive viewership. Paul is coming off a unanimous decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Joshua Promoter Confirms ‘Some Discussions’
Joshua is a former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist with a 28-4 career mark. He last appeared in September 2024, when he suffered a fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. The 36-year-old Brit underwent elbow surgery earlier this year.
The fight would likely air on Netflix and be co-promoted by Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. A potential complication would be Joshua’s exclusive deal with streaming platform DAZN. In a separate interview with ESPN on Wednesday, Hearn said that Joshua hoped to fight before the end of the year, but nothing was official.
“No, we’ve had some discussions,” Hearn said. “If we were to have a run out, a run out against Jake Paul would be quite pleasant. I’m not sure [Paul] is that mad. He might be, but nothing major to report at this stage. But I know they’re going to make a decision themselves about what they’re going to do.”
