The welterweight division is currently teeming with contenders. Islam Makhachev won the title against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 last month. The same card saw Carlos Prates and Michael Morales emerge as fresh contenders. While Prates knocked out former champ Leon Edwards, Morales starched Brady. Ian Garry also became relevant in the title picture after beating former champ Belal Muhammad at UFC Qatar a week later. Meanwhile, former champ Kamaru Usman and undefeated contender Shavkat Rakhmonov are also rallying for a title shot.

Ranking the Contenders
Brady (18-2) believes Garry (17-1) will not get the next shot and that Rakhmonov (19-0) has been inactive for too long. But the least deserving of all, according to Garry, is Usman. Brady believes the matchup is being plotted because Usman (21-4) and Makhachev (28-1) have the same manager, Ali Abdelaziz. Brady considers Morales (19-0) the most deserving title contender, followed by Prates (23-7).
“There’s no way Ian gets it next, I don’t think so,” Brady said on the “BradyBagz” podcast. “First of all, the least deserving of it is Kamaru Usman. I don’t know how they’re finagling this s—t, trying to push him to the title. Mutual friendship, same manager, I understand what they’re trying to do, but that’s bulls—t. I personally, obviously he beat me, think Morales is the most deserving out of everybody. Undefeated, 19-0. Just beat me. I was the No. 1 contender. No. 2 would be Prates… Shavkat doesn’t deserve a title shot.”
