Following two wins to kick off his pro career in 2017, featherweight prospect Terrance McKinney started off his 2018 campaign with similar results.
Against Tyrone Henderson at CageSport 49 in February, McKinney was able to get a first round submission, echoing the same exact results he had in his two previous fights.
“It felt good to get a win over that opponent,” McKinney told MMAWeekly.com. “(Henderson) fought out in Korea (for Road FC), so it almost felt like I’m already there (at that level), and there’s no telling where I could take it.”
McKinney’s win over Henderson was his third in six months. McKinney’s fast start in his career and fights themselves is something that comes naturally to him and is encouraged by his coaches.
“I want to be seen as a fighter who will fight anyone, and at any time,” said McKinney. “I want to show that I’m really living out there for this sport.
“I’ve always been like that. When (my opponent is) trying to feel it out, I’m trying to kill. That’s the best advantage. I learned that wrestling in college. The more a person pressures with offense, the more they’re going to win. Just let it rip and don’t waste time.”
On Saturday in Tacoma, Wash., McKinney (3-0) will look to remain undefeated as he takes on Brandon Todd (5-1) in a main card 155-pound bout at CageSport 50.
