Thomas Gifford released by the UFC following knockout loss in Tampa

Thomas Gifford is no longer under contract with the UFC, the lightweight fighter announced on his social media.

“The Young Lion” entered the Octagon on Oct. 12 looking for his first win against short-notice replacement Mike Davis, but was dominated before losing via third-round knockout. Gifford, who was on a seven-fight unbeaten streak before joining the company in 2019, went 0-2 under the UFC banner after dropping a decision to Roosevelt Roberts in his debut.

In a lengthy post on social media, Gifford looked at the situation with a good and a bad side.
