Tom Aspinall’s sparring partner had him in tears after a successful Ultimate Fighting Championship debut.
Aspinall was in attendance when Ante Delija made his promotional debut against Marcin Tybura at UFC Paris at the Accor Arena in France last weekend. The Croatian knocked Tybura out in the first round, avenging a previous loss dating back 10 years. Aspinall and father Andy, the head coach at Aspinall BJJ, were visibly emotional after Delija’s win. This prompted a UFC cameraman to question Aspinall about his reaction.

Aspinall: ‘It Means So Much to Him’
“Because it means so much to him,” Aspinall replied. “He’s a great guy, awesome guy. He’s been waiting his whole life for that. It’s awesome.”
Delija has been staying in Wigan, England, for the last year and a half to train with Aspinall. “Walking Trouble” broke down in tears and credited Tom and Andy after his successful UFC debut. Delija claimed that getting beaten up by Aspinall in training every day was much tougher than his UFC debut. The 35-year-old won the $1 million PFL tournament in the heavyweight bracket in 2022. He parted ways with the PFL earlier this year and joined the UFC after one outing on the regional circuit.
Meanwhile, Aspinall was finally promoted to undisputed champ after Jon Jones announced his retirement in June. “Honey Badger” is scheduled to defend his title against Ciryl Gane in the main event at UFC 321 on Oct. 25 at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
