Aspinall (15-3) is scheduled to defend his heavyweight title against Gane (13-2) in the UFC 321 headliner on Oct. 25 at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. While Aspinall doesn’t want to pressure himself, he believes Gane is a kind of matchup he has never faced before. Aspinall notes that, unlike most heavyweights, “Bon Gamin” is fast and slick. “Honey Badger” believes both parties must be burnt out for him to touch the Frenchman.

“I think this is just another fight for me… Ciryl is really good as well,” Aspinall said on the ShxtsnGigs podcast. “He brings a whole new challenge that I’ve not really had before. His style is different from a lot of heavyweights. He moves really well, he’s nimble, super fit, super athletic. I think we’re both going to be in a stage where, to get to him, we both need to be pretty exhausted.”
Aspinall finally got promoted to undisputed champ after a long wait when Jon Jones retired earlier this year. The Englishman has finished all of his Ultimate Fighting Championship opponents, barring an unfortunate injury against Curtis Blaydes, which he avenged in his most recent outing.
Meanwhile, Gane has fought for the title twice, coming up short on both occasions, first against Francis Ngannou, then Jones. The Frenchman has since rebounded with wins over Serghei Spivac and Alexander Volkov.
