Tom Aspinall Shuts Down Idea of Fighting Jon Jones at White House

Tom Aspinall has not even considered fighting Jon Jones at the White House.

Aspinall lost out on more than a year of his prime waiting for Jones. While Aspinall was the interim champ, Jones first insisted on defending his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic. After beating Miocic in November 2024, Jones kept avoiding Aspinall. However, “Bones” didn’t vacate his title and the UFC remained hopeful that he would fight Aspinall, who was just eager to stay active at that point.

Dana White finally announced Jones’ retirement at a post-fight presser in Baku, Azerbaijan in June without any ceremony. However, Jones’ desire to fight was reignited when Donald Trump announced that the UFC is planning a card at the White House for 2026. While White didn’t refute the idea of Jones’ returning, he seems less  enthusiastic now. Jones has since returned to the drug testing pool as well.

Aspinall: Potential Jones Bout ‘Just False Hope’

However, Aspinall hasn’t entertained the idea at all. “Honey Badger” believes fans also shouldn’t be interested in the matchup, as it’ll raise their hopes for no reason.

“It has spent zero seconds in my mind. That’s it. Not interested mate. And the world shouldn’t be interested either, because what’s the point. Just false hope,”Aspinall said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.”

Aspinall was promoted to undisputed champion upon Jones’ retirement. The Englishman is scheduled to defend his title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 on Oct. 25 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
