UFC Brasilia Gets Francisco Trinaldo-John Makdessi Lightweight Duel

A pair of lightweight veterans will square off at UFC Brasilia, when Francisco Trinaldo meets John Makdessi on March 14.

Promotion officials recently announced the matchup. UFC Brasilia takes place at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium and will see Demian Maia square off against Gilbert Burns at welterweight. A light heavyweight tilt pitting Johnny Walker against Nikita Krylov is also slated for the card.

The 41-year-old Trinaldo has alternated wins and losses in his last six UFC bouts. “Massaranduba” last appeared at UFC Fight Night 164, where he outpointed Bobby Green on Nov. 16. The Brazilian fighter is 14-6 during his Octagon tenure.

Makdessi, meanwhile, enters the matchup on a three-bout winning streak that includes decision triumphs over Abel Trujillo, Ross Pearson and Jesus Pinedo. “The Bull” is 10–6 since beginning his UFC career in 2010.
