UFC Fight Night live blog: Gilbert Burns vs. Michael Morales

This is the UFC Vegas 106 live blog for Gilbert Burns vs. Michael Morales, the welterweight main event on Saturday in Las Vegas.

A staple of the UFC for over a decade, Burns currently finds himself on unfamiliar ground as he’s riding the first three-fight losing streak of his career. Granted, those losses came against the Top 3 fighters in the UFC welterweight rankings, but “Durinho” has nevertheless failed to win a bout since his unanimous decision over Jorge Masvidal in 2023. If Burns has any hope of ever getting back into the title conversation, he needs a big win on Saturday.

Still only 25 years old, Morales is one of the brightest prospects in the welterweight division. 17-0 in his professional career, the Ecuadorian joined the UFC off of Contender Series in 2022, and has amassed a 5-0 record in the promotion, most recently stopping Neil Magny last August. Now, Morales hopes to establish himself as a legitimate contender at 170 pounds.
