UFC Invites Male Heavyweights, Female Featherweights to Try Out for ‘The Ultimate Fighter 28′

The wheels are in motion for the 28th season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

The UFC announced on Wednesday that it will hold a casting call on May 22 in Las Vegas for heavyweight men and featherweight women between the ages of 21 and 34. All attending tryouts must have a minimum of three professional fights and a winning record.

At tryouts, fighters will be asked to grapple and hit pads and will be notified at the end of the day if they will move on to the next portion of the casting process. Those who attend must fill out an online application here and bring it to tryouts.

It isn’t guaranteed that either weight class will make it on the show, but the promotion is clearly targeting those particular divisions for the upcoming season. “TUF 28” will begin filming in July and will premiere on Fox Sports 1 later this year.

“TUF 27” debuted on FS1 last week. The latest iteration of the long-running reality show features a cast of undefeated featherweight and lightweight fighters coached by heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
