UFC Macau bonuses: Yadong Song grapples his way to an extra $100K

Four mixed martial artists walked away with an extra $100,000 in their bank accounts after earning UFC Macau performance bonuses.

Following the 13-fight event in Macau, China, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced its performance bonuses. The most obvious performance of the night recipient was the main event winner, Yadong Song. The Chinese fighter wowed his home crowd by submitting Deiveson Figueiredo with a tight guillotine choke in Round 2. Just 28, Song (23-9-1) is now 2-1 in his last three and is set up for a big bantamweight contender fighter next.

The second performance of the night went to Kai Asakura. Moving up to bantamweight, Asakura (22-6) destroyed Cameron Smotherman with a flurry of hard punches. The stoppage officially came at 1:50 of the first round. The former title contender has now picked up his first win inside the Octagon and will look to carry that momentum forward.

Finally, the fight of the night award went to light heavyweights Alonzo Menifield and Mingyang Zhang, who each took home an extra $100,000. The pair had a brawling fight that saw the Chinese fighter unable to handle the power punches from “Atomic.” Now 3-1 in his last four fights, the American will look to face another contender next.
