UFC Perth Loses Light Heavyweight Co-Headliner Due to Injury

And then there were 14 for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s jaunt back to the Commonwealth of Australia.

The promotion announced on Thursday that the 205-pound match pitting Junior Tafa (6-4) and Ibo Aslan (14-3) has been scuttled from the UFC Perth lineup. The event, also titled UFC Fight Night 260, takes place less than two weeks away inside of the RAC Arena in the capital city of Western Australia. According to Aslan, Tafa sustained an undisclosed injury, and the organization has opted to scratch the bout from the billing and possibly book it another date.

“My opponent pulled out of the fight because of an injury,” Aslan wrote on his Instagram Stories. “The fight will not happen. Get well soon boy, we have to rebook this fight. There is no space for you.”

Rough Sledding for Both Combatants

The UFC record for each of the two fighters sits at .500 or below, with Tafa having lost four of his six outings to date. In comparison, the perennial 205er Aslan has dropped two in a row to go 2-2 with the promotion thus far. The former suffered his first submission defeat in his debut at 205 pounds, when George Tokkos tapped him with an arm-triangle in July. All of the Kiwi’s pro wins have come via strikes.

Like his opponent, Aslan sports a 100% knockout rate with far more wins on his ledger. After strike stoppages of Anton Turkalj and Raffael Cerqueira to start his UFC run off strong, his 2025 has been less than stellar. In February, Ion Cutelaba landed an arm-triangle on him, and he went on to go the distance for the first time in his career against Billy Elekana in an unsuccessful decision.
