As the UFC moves into the world of professional grappling, it’s bringing some new belts with it.
This Wednesday, the UFC hosts UFC BJJ 1, the promotion’s push into the world of competitive jiu-jitsu. While the UFC has already dabbled in the grappling sports with UFC Fight Pass Invitationals, this is a concerted move into the sport as the promotion will crown inaugural champions for it’s bantamweight, lightweight, and welterweight divisions.
Part and parcel with any champion is a championship belt, and the promotion has just that, as on Tuesday, it reveal the new UFC BJJ titles, with a red, black, and silver color scheme, and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt adornment on the title.
Wednesday’s event will be headlined by Mikey Musumeci and Rerisson Gabriel battling for the inaugural bantamweight title, while Andrew Tackett and Andy Varela will fight for the welterweight title in the co-main event. Carlos Henrique and Danilo Moreira will roll for the lightweight belt in the feature bout of the evening.
