This is the UFC Vegas 92 live blog for Edson Barboza vs. Lerone Murphy, the featherweight main event Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Barboza is one of the longest tenured fighters in the UFC’s lighter weight classes. The 38-year-old Brazilian has been an octagon staple since 2010, authoring some of the most memorable knockouts in MMA over that time, including highlight-reel finishes of Terry Etim, Beneil Dariush, and Dan Hooker. Despite his age, Barboza looks to continue his recent hot streak after rattling off a perfect 2-0 record in 2023 with wins over Billy Quarantillo and Sodiq Yusuff, the former of which was a brutal first-round knee knockout.
Murphy is now the latest up-and-comer to try to make a name of Barboza. A 32-year-old Englishman nicknamed “The Miracle,” Murphy is unbeaten in both his MMA and UFC run, having compiled a 13-0-1 professional record with a sterling 5-0-1 mark under the UFC umbrella. Murphy’s success includes a five-fight octagon win streak culminating with a decision win over Joshua Culibao in his most recent outing in July 2023. He now looks to jump into the ranks of contention with his first UFC main event against Barboza.
