Malcolm Wellmaker knows a matchup against Ilia Topuria’s brother might not be realistic at the moment.

Wellmaker wants to return to action on the UFC 320 undercard on Oct. 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. “The Machine” is ideally eyeing a bout against Aleksandre Topuria.

“I heard a couple of rumours about making it possibly to the [UFC] 320 card in October… If I could get on that undercard, it would be amazing,” Wellmaker told MMA Junkie. “I keep hearing the name Topuria tossed around too. I’m not going to lie, the more I hear it, the more excited about it I get. I think that’s way too amazing of a dream come true to be able to fight Topuria in October.”

While Topuria has had only one fight in the UFC, he is a notable name, thanks to the stardom of his brother, lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.

“I see Ricky Simon’s name get tossed around, Adrian Yanez name get tossed around. I don’t think Payton Talbott will happen anytime soon because he’s also such a big prospect.”

Wellmaker is a hotshot prospect in himself with back-to-back first-round knockout wins in the UFC. The undefeated prospect earned an extra $50k “Performance of the Night” bonus for each of his two wins.
