Video: Cody Stamann believes Jimmie Rivera is a ‘tough out,’ but hasn’t evolved in years

Cody Stamann had already agreed to face Jimmie Rivera at the UFC’s event on Aug. 8. By moving things up a few weeks, now he doesn’t have to cut that dreaded extra 10 pounds.

The matchup between top-10 bantamweights will now take place at 145-pounds at UFC on ESPN 13 Wednesday night. The event emanates on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and will be headlined by an exciting matchup between Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige.

Prior to heading to “Fight Island,” Stamann joined MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck for an exclusive interview to discuss how the fight came together on short notice, if he was in the running to replace Pedro Munhoz against Frankie Edgar, his emotional win at UFC 250 over Brian Kelleher, the respect he has for his opponent, why he feels Rivera hasn’t evolved over the years, Sean O’Malley, and more.
