Video: Colby Covington Avoids Ex-Teammate Themba Gorimbo at UFC PI

Colby Covington recently went out of his way to avoid crossing paths with former teammate Themba Gorimbo.

Gorimbo and Covington were once teammates at the MMA Masters gym in Florida. Gorimbo previously defended Covington, saying that the outspoken fighter was often misunderstood. Gorimbo admittedly had $6 left in his bank account leading up to his second UFC outing. The Zimbabwean later revealed that Covington used to bring him food when he was broke.

However, the two have since fallen out, allegedly due to a misconduct by Covington. According to Gorimbo, Covington threw him out of the UFC Performance Institute while “Chaos” was cutting weight for a title fight against Leon Edwards in 2023. What hurt “The Answer” even more was that Covington sent someone to tell him to leave the area instead of approaching by himself. That was last straw for Gorimbo to leave the gym and join Eric Nicksick’s Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.

Gorimbo and Covington recently almost ran into each other again at the UFC PI. However, Covington changed paths to avoid encountering his former teammate. Covington also called Gorimbo an “ungrateful motherf—-r.”

You saw who’s down there? That ungrateful motherf—er who we used to feed,” Covington said. “I think we should just go f—ing train around him, actually.”

Covington has dropped four out of six outings since 2019. “Chaos” most recently suffered a stoppage loss against Joaquin Buckley this past December, which marked his return to action after a year.

Meanwhile, Gorimbo is coming off a submission loss against Vicente Luque in December that snapped a four-fight winning streak.
