Video: Wanderlei Silva Knocked Out in Post-Fight Brawl at Spaten Fight Night 2

It was not a night to remember for Wanderlei Silva.

The mixed martial arts legend squared off against world boxing champion Acelino “Popo” Freitas at Spaten Fight Night 2 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday night. Silva committed multiple fouls in the bout, which ultimately resulted in a disqualification loss in Round 4.

However, what transpired after that ruling will serve as the lasting image of the event. After “Popo” climbed the ropes to celebrate the victory, both corners began angrily jawing back and forth. Shortly thereafter, a brawl ensued. During the fracas, Silva was knocked out cold by what appeared to be someone from the opposite corner who was wearing a tuxedo.

The 49-year-old Silva, who was originally supposed to face Vitor Belfort at the event, was making his first combat sports appearance since September 2018.
