Watch Edmond Tarverdyan reflect on Ronda Rousey’s alleged deal with Dana White she’d come to regret

Ronda Rousey struck a deal with Dana White to put her UFC title on the line in less than a month’s notice at UFC 193 in November 2014, and it was a decision that became the beginning of the end of her MMA career.

Rosuey’s story will be featured on Dark Side of the Cage this Wednesday, and tells the tale of “an MMA trailblazer – the UFC’s first-ever female star and, at one point, the highest-paid fighter of all time, male or female. So why did she suddenly walk away?”

In an exclusive clip provided to MMA Fighting, former UFC fighters Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jake Ellenberger, along with Rousey’s longtime head coach Edmond Tarverdyan discuss the decision for Rousey to defend her title against Holly Holm on short notice, and according to the clip, Rousey was allegedly offered a deal that could pay her upwards of $4.5 million. Check out the clip below.

Rousey would go on to suffer her first loss, and was on the wrong end of one of the biggest highlight-reel knockouts in UFC history.

“The Disappearance of Ronda Rousey” episode of Dark Side of the Cage premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on VICE TV.
