Tony Ferguson remains one of a kind.
“El Cucuy” was recently announced to be fighting Dillon Danis at an upcoming GFL event, with a date and location still to be made official. Ahead of this anticipated contest, Ferguson shared a clip of himself working a speed bag in an unconventional manner.
No hands, only elbows.
Though exact plans for upcoming GFL events remain murky, the league previously announced it expected to hold its inaugural show in April in Los Angeles, followed by a May event in New York. Ferguson, a member of Team Los Angeles, mentioned a May 11 date in his post.
A one-time interim UFC lightweight champion, Ferguson (25-11) recently parted ways with the promotion following an eight-fight losing streak. He turned 41 this past February and looks to right the ship with a win over the controversial Danis.
Up next for Danis, 31, is a boxing match with influencer KSI. The two are set to square off in the ring on March 29 in Manchester, England. Danis has competed just twice in MMA, winning both fights and most recently defeating Max Humphrey at a June 2019 Bellator event. Regardless, he has continued to land high-profile opportunities due to his notoriety, including a farcical boxing match with Logan Paul in October 2023 that Danis lost via disqualification.
