A matchup of flyweight veterans has been added to the UFC 324 lineup.

Charles Johnson will square off against Alex Perez on Jan. 24 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Johnson confirmed the booking on social media following an initial report from MMAFighting.com. UFC 324 is headlined by an interim lightweight title tilt between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett, while Kayla Harrison will defend her bantamweight crown against Amanda Nunes in the evening’s co-main event.

Opposite Directions

The 34-year-old Johnson has been victorious in five of his last six Octagon appearances. “InnerG” rebounded from a decision loss to Ramazonbek Temirov in March by scoring a second-round KO of highly-regarded prospect Lone’er Kavanagh at UFC Fight Night 257 on Aug. 23.

Perez has fallen on hard times in recent years. Dating back to his title bout loss against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255, the 33-year-old Team Oyama product has dropped five of his last six appearances within the Las Vegas-based promotion. Most recently, he was submitted in the third stanza by Asu Almabayev at UFC Qatar on Nov. 22.
