Cris Cyborg isn’t buying the rumors that Ronda Rousey will make her boxing debut next year.
The former UFC bantamweight queen will reportedly face Katie Taylor in a bout targeted for the summer of 2026. Rousey has not competed in combat sports since suffering a first-round stoppage loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016. Recent videos on social media of the Olympic judoka training fueled speculation regarding a potential comeback, but news of a foray into the Sweet Science was not what anyone would have expected.

‘Zero Chance’
As for “Cyborg,” she’ll believe it when she sees it.
“I once saw [Ronda Rousey] shadow boxing and her shadow won!” Justino wrote on X. “Zero chance she fights boxing. Maybe a return to the cage for a Gina Carano fight…but Ronda doesn’t belong anywhere near a boxing ring.”
When Rousey was at her peak, a potential showdown with “Cyborg” was a hot topic. However, “Rowdy” refused to move up to featherweight to meet the heavy-handed Brazilian, and the bout never came to fruition — even after Justino arrived in the UFC.
“Cyborg” is currently under PFL contract and is expected to face Sara Collins for the promotion’s featherweight belt on Dec. 13 in Lyon, France. The former UFC, Bellator and Invicta champion has also competed in a handful of professional boxing matches in recent months.
