Covington recently headlined RAF 5 in a 200-pound cruiserweight wrestling match against Luke Rockhold. Covington dominated Rockhold and won 12-0 by technical fall. “Chaos” says he felt stronger than Rockhold, who walks around heavier than him. The former interim UFC welterweight champion is now contemplating a move up to middleweight for his next UFC fight. Covington remains hopeful of a matchup at the White House in June.
Feeling Stronger
“I felt good at this weight class,” Covington said at the RAF post-fight press conference. “I know I will do great at 185. I have unlimited endurance, so at middleweight I’d have a lot more endurance, and I’d feel better. I felt stronger than him tonight. I know he probably weighs 20 to 30 pounds more than me. So you might see me in my next fight, maybe at the White House, at middleweight.”
Covington (17-5) came up short in three title challenges in the UFC – twice against Kamaru Usman and once against Leon Edwards. Covington is 2-4 in his last six outings and hasn’t competed since a stoppage loss against Joaquin Buckley in December 2024.
