A featherweight veteran will face a surging prospect at UFC Houston.
Dan Ige will fight Melquizael Costa at UFC Fight Night 267 on Feb. 21 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. MMAFighting.com was first to report the 145-pound booking, which was later confirmed by Costa.
Battle Tested
Ige (19-10) has fought the who’s who at featherweight, going 11-8 in the UFC. “50K” has notably beaten Edson Barboza, Nate Landwehr, Andre Fili and Damon Jackson, while coming up short against opponents like Chan Sung Jung, Josh Emmett, Movsar Evloev, Bryce Mitchell and Diego Lopes. Ige famously went the distance in a slugfest with Lopes on four hours’ notice at UFC 303 in 2024. Ige is coming off a unanimous decision loss against former Bellator champion Patricio Freire.
Meanwhile, Costa (25-7) is 6-2 in the UFC since making his debut in 2023. “The Dalmatian” has only lost to Thiago Moises and Steve Garcia, while leaving behind the likes of Christian Rodriguez, Andre Fili and Julian Erosa in his wake. Costa most recently knocked out Morgan Charriere with a head kick last month.
