Dana White Confident Nunes-‘Cyborg’ Rematch Will Happen

Cristiane Justino is now a free agent after dominating a game Felicia Spencer on Saturday in the final fight on her current Ultimate Fighting Championship contract.

The 34-year-old Brazilian has been in a much-publicized dispute with her employer for some time regarding a new contract. Despite winning on Saturday in her first fight back from her knockout loss to Amanda Nunes, which appeared to set the table for a rematch, rumor abounds that she may have fought her last fight for the promotion. Notably, after Justino’s win on Saturday, Bellator MMA president Scott Coker sent off a congratulatory Tweet that included a photo of Justino and himself taken years ago when he was president of Strikeforce, the organization under which she first came to stardom.

During the UFC 240 post-fight press conference, White was confident a deal could be struck for the much anticipated rematch despite the issues between “Cris Cyborg” and the UFC.

“I like it,” White said. “I love it. That’s the fight to make, that’s the fight I want to make. So we’ll see what we can do.

“I hope [Justino wants the rematch]” he continued. “If that’s true, if that’s the fight she wants and she really wants that fight, I don’t see how we don’t make a deal. If you look at my history in 20 years, how many deals have I not made for a fight? I think it’s been like one. There’s one I didn’t make. We never got the Russian… Fedor [Emelianenko]. I was trying to do that Fedor-Brock [Lesnar] fight. That’s the fight I didn’t make.”
