Darren Till Open To Fighting at 170 Again, Admits Middleweight Would Be Less Stressful

The identity of Darren Till’s next opponent remains an open question after the Liverpudlian recently admitted that his mind was still not made up on what weight division he would be fighting at next.

The 26-year-old has a history of difficult weight cuts and despite successfully making weight in his last two bouts against Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal, “The Gorilla” has still not decided where he’ll be fighting next.

Till was a guest on a recent edition of the “Eurobash” podcast and said he would still be open on taking a fight at welterweight despite coming off back-to-back losses to Woodley and Masvidal at 170 pounds (via MMAFighting.com).

“I haven’t thought about it much,” Till said. “Let’s do middle, let’s do welter—let’s do every f*cking weight because at the end of the day I’m really not scared of any man.”

Till said after his loss against Masvidal he’s been working hard in training and trying to improve his diet:

“As I’ve said, the only thing I’m doing is cracking on with my training. I’m training very hard and I’ve started doing a few extra things. I’ve implemented a lot of swimming into my game. I’ve been lifting a little bit of weights and I’ve put on some size and I’m trying to clean up the nutrition since there’s no fight camp,” said Till.

The former welterweight title challenger admitted that a move up a weight class to middleweight might actually help the mental side of the game as the weight cut would be one less thing to worry about:

“It would be more like relaxation for my head because I wouldn’t have to worry about the weight; the weight cut won’t be as big because there would be a few less kilos to cut, which I think would be a big weight off my mind. Nothing is set in stone yet, so we’ll see where the end of this year leads me,” he said.
