There’s death, taxes and Tyson Fury coming out of retirement.
The former heavyweight champion announced his intention to make yet another comeback in a recent post on social media. Fury’s most recent retirement announcement came in January 2025 following his second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk.

“2026 is that year. Return of the mac,” Fury wrote. “Been away for a while but I’m back now, 37 years old and still punching. Nothing better to do than punch men in the face and get paid for it.”
On Again, Off Again
Fury also retired from boxing following a victory over Dillian Whyte in April 2022, but decision was short lived, as “The Gypsy King” returned to action in December of that year. The Brit also briefly called it quits in both 2013, 2016 and 2017 for a variety of reasons ranging from canceled fights to wanting to focus on his mental health.
Fury owns a 34-2-1 career mark in the Sweet Science with victories over the likes of Deontay Wilder, Wladimir Klitschko, Whyte and Derek Chisora, among others. Fury has been liked to a fight with fellow Brit and former world champion Anthony Joshua, according to multiple reports. However, Joshua was recently injured in a car crash in Nigeria, so it is unclear when he might be ready to return to action.
