Jean Silva Explains Nerves Ahead of UFC 324 Clash Against Arnold Allen

Just over four months after his first UFC defeat against Diego Lopes, Jean Silva will be back in the Octagon at UFC 324 on Saturday against Arnold Allen.

And in this final stretch before the fight, fans have been able to closely follow the last steps of the “Lord” through his YouTube channel. Last Thursday, Jean opened his last training session to fans at The Fighting Nerds.

“People let´s clap for the next UFC champion,” said coach Pablo Scupira after Silva finished his last sparring session.

“You can expect a much better version of Jean than with Diego Lopes. He will win and with a great performance,” guaranteed coach Flávio Alvaro. The video ends with Silva arriving at the Sao Paulo airport and boarding with his wife for Las Vegas.

In a subsequent video, recorded last Saturday and published on his YouTube channel on Sunday, Jean is already shown at the house he rented with his team, eating strawberries and revealing that he still needed to lose seven kilograms (15 pounds) to make weight. The cut doesn’t appear to be a concern for Silva.

“Today is Saturday and now I only have seven kilos left. It will be much easier than the last times,” said the Fighting Nerd, showing that his optimism was mirrored by the app he uses to show him all his metrics daily during the camp. “My team today, including coaches and trainers, is made up of 22 people, but that’s a lot of people to bring. For the fight, I only bring those who are really necessary.”

Nervous Energy

During a live stream on his YouTube channel, Silva also explained that his anxiety for UFC 324 doesn’t exactly stem from the fight he has ahead of him, but from the perception that the UFC sees him as a future champion.

“I’m nervous, and it’s not even about my fight,” Silva said. “It’s that the path is very clear: the UFC wants me to be champion. Because, man, I knocked out Arnold Allen… and tell me, what’s the next step? Especially if Diego wins the belt.”
