UFC Hopeful Gable Steveson to Face Most Experienced Foe to Date

Uber prospect Gable Steveson continues to take the necessary steps toward building a successful mixed martial arts career.

The two-time NCAA national champion and Olympic gold medalist will square off against Hugo Lezama at Mexico Fight League 3 at the Showcenter Complex in Monterrey, Mexico, on Feb. 19. The promotion announced the heavyweight booking via social media. The event will air live on YouTube.

Steveson, who has been training with former UFC two-division champion Jon Jones, is 2-0 in his burgeoning MMA career. The 25-year-old debuted with a technical knockout of Braden Peterson 1:38 into Round 1 of their encounter at LFA 217 before knocking out Kevin Hein in just 24 seconds at Anthony Pettis FC 21 on Nov. 23. In between those two bouts, Steveson scored a 15-second KO under the Dirty Boxing banner.

The 37-year-old Lezama holds an 11-3 professional record and most defended his heavyweight title under the Budo Sento Championship banner in November 2024. “Pandamonio” has finished nine of his 11 triumphs inside the distance.
