Josh Hokit Issues Chael Sonnen-Esque Callout After Sensational UFC Debut

Josh Hokit considers himself a reincarnation of Chael Sonnen when it comes to trash talk.

Hokit made his UFC debut against fellow newcomer Max Gimenis at UFC Vegas 111 on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. “The Incredible Hok” took just under a minute to knock out Gimenis.

Hokit subsequently borrowed a page out of Chael Sonnen’s book to cut a promo. Known as one of the best trash talkers in the history of the sport, Sonnen’s “biggest arm, most charm” is a famous monologue he used to hype himself. Hokit cut a similar promo while calling out Valter Walker, almost exactly like Sonnen had called out Anderson Silva in the past.

“I’m the talk of the town, the USA sound, the most profound,” Hokit said in the Octagon. “The boy toy, the ladies joy, the master of disaster, the true speaking pastor’s pastor. The biggest arm, the most charm, the one that’s going to do all the harm. I’m more than meets the eye, I’m even sweeter than your grandmas whole made apple pie… I already stomped two Brazilians. I’m looking for a third. Valter Walker, you absolutely suck.”

‘The Bad Guy’ Reincarnated?

Hokit subsequently paid tribute to Sonnen and declared himself the heavyweight version of “The Bad Guy.”

“The bad guy is reincarnated inside of a dad bod heavyweight… Shout out to the bad guy, Chael Sonnen,” Hokit said at the post-fight media scrum.”

Hokit (7-0) transitioned to MMA after failing to make an NFL roster in 2020 and 2022. The undefeated 27-year-old has finished all of his seven wins so far, going past the first round only twice. Meanwhile, Walker (15-1), aptly named “The Foot Hunter,” has finished four straight UFC wins via heel hook.
