Kyle Nelson believes he is in a do-or-die situation.
At UFC Fight Night 159 in Mexico City, Nelson will take on Marco Polo Reyes in a featherweight bout. Both fights are on two-fight losing streaks, but the Canadian is confident he will be the one to get his hand raised.
“Every fight is super important but this one, with me coming off of two losses is a do-or-die situation,” Nelson said to Sherdog.com. “It could be the loser gets cut, I’m not certain. Usually a couple of losses is not good, but we will make it three in a rowl for Polo Reyes.”
Nelson’s confidence stems from his power, which he believes could be the determining factor, as well as his all-around skills.
“Yeah, this is his first fight at 145. It will be a rude awakening when he thinks it is a featherweight fight but runs into my power,” he said. “I’m also pretty certain my wrestling and jiu-jitsu is better than his. But, I also think my kickboxing is also better so I can take this fight wherever I want it.”
Regardless, Nelson is just eager to step back into the Octagon and earn his first UFC win.
“It all depends on how durable his chin is, he could go out earlier or he could go out later on, but this fight will not go the distance,” Nelson said.
