Shane Burgos will get the home fight he so desired, as the Bronx native will take on Makwan Amirkhani at UFC 244.
Newsday was first to report the featherweight booking. UFC 244 goes down on Nov. 2 and will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.
Burgos is coming off of a very impressive win over Cub Swanson at UFC Fight Night 151. He also was successful in the promotion’s last trip to Madison Square Garden, submitting Kurt Holobaugh at UFC 230. Burgos is 5-1 in the UFC, with his lone loss coming at the hands of Calvin Kattar.
Amirkhani, meanwhile, is looking to extend his winning streak to three. ‘Mr. Finland’ last fought in June, when submitted Chris Fishgold at UFC Fight Night 153. Before that, he beat Jason Knight by decision at UFC Fight Night 130 in May 2018. Like Burgos, he is 5-1 inside the Octagon, where his lone loss came at the hands of Arnold Allen.
