Lightweight banger booked for UFC Vegas 120 main attraction

To curb a line from Professional Fighters League announcer Greg Hamilton, Ultimate Fighting Championship fans will soon be treated to an “absolute banger.”

The promotion broke the news on Thursday that its event on Aug. 8, titled both UFC Fight Night 284 and UFC Vegas 120, will be receiving a lightweight main event. The fight card playing out at the UFC’s Apex in Las Vegas will be capped off by a 155-pound scrap between Mateusz Gamrot (26-4, 1 NC) and Quillan Salkilld (12-1).

Dating back to 2024, Poland’s Gamrot has bounced in and out of the win column across five Octagon outings. The five-time post-fight bonus winner wrapped his three-fight win streak by taking a decision over Rafael dos Anjos, and fell short by split verdict to Dan Hooker about five months later. While he rebounded by beating Ludovit Klein, a pairing against ex-champ Charles Oliveira resulted in the first stoppage loss of his career. In April, he put green on his ledger again by tapping Esteban Ribovics with an arm-triangle choke.

Since springboarding into the Octagon after Gamrot had already embarked on his win-loss pattern, the Aussie had a banner 2025 campaign by sparking Anshul Jubli and Nasrat Haqparast. This year has proved even bigger for the 26-year-old, who already hit a neck crank on Jamie Mullarkey and laid waste to Beneil Dariush in about three and a half minutes. All four UFC wins inside the distance for Salkilld have been accompanied by bonus checks. The win streak of the Aussie still dates back to his first pro victory in 2021, accounting for nine stoppages in his 12 triumphs.

UFC Vegas 120 partial lineup:

Mateusz Gamrot vs. Quillan Salkilld – lightweight
Steven Asplund vs. Guilherme Pat – heavyweight
Amanda Lemos vs. Alexia Thainara – women’s strawweight
Jose Luiz vs. Louie Sutherland – heavyweight
Diyar Nurgozhay vs. Bruno Lopes – light heavyweight
Juliana Miller vs. Ravena Oliveira – women’s flyweight
Donte Johnson vs. Eric McConico – middleweight
