Mansur Abdul-Malik Praises Staff, Media After UFC 323 Triumph

Mansur Abdul-Malik specifically expressed his gratitude to the UFC staff and media members after his win on Saturday.

Abdul-Malik took hardly over a minute to submit Antonio Trocoli in the prelims at UFC 323 on Saturday. The undefeated middleweight thanked the staff and media members during the post-fight press conference. Abdul-Malik thanks reporters for shedding light on the lives and backgrounds of different fighters and hopes to return the favor someday.

Gratitude All Around

“Let me highlight something else,” he said. “Every person in this room, this is the last pay-per-view of the year. Thank you UFC, thank you staff, thank you every single person that is highlighting all these different fighters and interviewing me. This is a childhood dream… I’m so happy and thankful to every single person in this room. You guys take the time to learn the stories and learn the personalities of all the different fighters that may or may not have the energy to talk to you. And you deal with all these different types of things yourselves. So I’m so happy, I’m so thankful to all of you. If I can interview you one day maybe I’d do it that way. But I’m so happy, what a beautiful year. To end the year on a win like that, monster sponsors, new deals, these beautiful braids on my head.”

The win over Trocoli (12-6) saw Abdul-Malik (9-0) return to the win column after his win over Cody Brundage was overturned to a majority draw. While Abdul-Malik initially earned a stoppage win, the replay revealed that the finishing sequence started with an accidental clash of heads.
