Pimblett recently revealed that his No. 1 pound-for-pound UFC fighter is Islam Makhachev, who also tops the promotion’s official rankings. Pimblett also agrees with the rankings on Ilia Topuria being the No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter. However, Pimblett wants to beat Topuria to be in the rankings.

“For me, Islam is pound-for-pound No. 1. Ilia is No. 2,”Pimblett told The Mac Life. “I want to beat him and be on that pound-for-pound list. I want to show everyone why we have weight divisions and that he’s just too small to beat me.”
Makhachev (28-1) defended the lightweight title four times before moving up to welterweight. Makhachev dominantly dethroned Jack Della Maddalena this past November to win the welterweight title. Meanwhile, Topuria (17-0) defended his featherweight title once before moving up to lightweight, where he won the vacant title against Charles Oliveira.
Pimblett (23-3) could soon be on a collision course with Topuria. “The Baddy” is scheduled to fight Justin Gaethje (26-5) for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas. The winner of the fight should ideally fight Topuria in a title unifier.
