Tagir Ulanbekov’s octagon debut has been rescheduled following the death of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
The Dagestani flyweight, a training partner of Khabib Nurmagomedov and a student of the UFC champ’s father, will face off with Bruno Silva at a UFC event slated for Sept. 12. MMA Fighting confirmed the matchup after an initial report from ESPN.com. A location has yet to be confirmed for the event.
The early fall fight card is still being booked out with a light heavyweight bout between one-time title challengers Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos expected to be featured.
Ulanbekov, a former Gorilla Fighting Championship and Fight Nights Global champ, was scheduled to meet Aleksander Doskalchuk at UFC Fight Island 2 on Saturday, but withdrew after the elder Nurmagomedov’s death due to complications from COVID-19.
Silva makes his third UFC appearance after a debut loss to Khalid Taha at bantamweight was overturned due to a failed drug test from Taha. He was then outpointed by David Dvorak in a follow-up at UFC Brasilia.
