Per a Thursday press release, UFC BJJ 3 will be capped off by a bantamweight championship collision between Mikey Musumeci and Keven Carrasco. Additionally, it set in stone a number of other matchups already announced in August and September, including its co-headliner. In that penultimate grappling match, Carlos Henrique will put his lightweight strap on the line against Matheus Gabriel. The bouts will all take place in the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Oct. 2, and it will air live and free on the UFC’s YouTube page at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Grappling ace Musumeci left the confines of One Championship in 2024 to take part in the ninth UFC Fight Pass Invitational event. Under an exclusive deal with the UFC, the 29-year-old from New Jersey made a statement in inaugural UFC BJJ show in June by heel hooking Rerisson Gabriel to claim the belt. The wunderkind who calls himself “Darth Rigatoni” has won 12 straight grappling matches dating back to October 2021.
Facing Musumeci is fellow UFC BJJ 1 victor Carrasco, who tapped out Ty Costlow in the first match the organization held. Carrasco hit Ty Costlow with a triangle choke to pick up the title shot-clinching triumph with 20 seconds remaining in the first round. While not quite a decorated as the multiple-time IBJJF World Champion, Carrasco does have one of those championships to his name when he prevailed over the field in 2019 as a purple belt.
