New South Wales Police are investigating the shooter and reportedly believe that it may be linked to gang activity.

UFC Veteran Has Dark History

This is not the first time Mokhtarian was the target of a shooting. In February 2024, a gunman disguised as a delivery worker allegedly attempted to kill the fighter outside Australia Top Team while children’s classes were being taught. This past April, New South Wales police canceled a Dark Matter Fighting Championship event due to the threat of a gang-related attack. Mokhtarian was slated to coach several fighters on that card and was believed to be the target of the potential hit.

Mokhtarian was a cast member on Season 27 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” where he lost to Ricky Steele in the quarterfinals. He went 0-2 in the UFC falling to Sodiq Yusuff and Seung Woo Choi. The loss to Choi at UFC Fight Night 165 in December 2019 was his last pro fight. Mokhtarian went 8-2 over the course of a career that began in 2012.
