UFC 256
took its toll on its competitors.

According to promotional paperwork provided to mixedmartialarts.com
on Friday, seven different
Ultimate Fighting Championship
fighters from the recent
pay-per-view card face lengthy suspensions. Headlining the event
was a flyweight championship affair, where Deiveson
Figueiredo
fought to a thrilling draw to retain his belt
against Brandon
Moreno
. For their hard-fought battle that raged on for 25
minutes, both men are facing potential 180-day suspensions from the
Nevada State Athletic Commission. Figueiredo needs to get his
broken toe and right bicep cleared, while Moreno sustained damage
to his left shoulder and left forearm that also requires
clearance.

Figueiredo and Moreno were not the only two fighters on the main
card staring down the barrel of lengthy suspensions, as Tony
Ferguson
and Mackenzie
Dern
both require scans to be allowed to compete soon. Ferguson
requires an MRI on his left elbow, which was torqued badly from an
armbar by the victorious Charles
Oliveira
. Dern suffered damage to her nose from strikes from
Virna
Jandiroba
, and she needs a facial CT scan to determine if her
nose was indeed broken. Due to the nature of the bouts, both of
their opponents Oliveira and Jandiroba were handed mandatory 30-day
suspensions as well.

Earlier on the card, Cub Swanson
knocked out Daniel
Pineda
with a few devastating right hands, and as a result,
that hand may have taken some damage. Swanson will need to get his
right hand cleared with an x-ray and consult with an orthopedic
doctor or he will be on the shelf for six months. Sam Hughes
had her eye busted up by Tecia
Torres
, forcing her corner to stop the contest at the end of
the first round – Hughes will need to get her eye checked out by an
ophthalmologist or she will be out of action for six months as
well. Finally, Peter
Barrett
succumbed to a Hail Mary heel hook from Chase
Hooper
to lose a bout he was likely winning until he was
submitted. As a result of the submission, Barrett needs an MRI to
have his knee cleared, or he will be facing a 180-day
suspension.

Each of the seven fighters can be allowed to compete sooner than
June 2021 as long as they are cleared by doctors, and they have all
been issued mandatory suspensions of up to two months with no
contact for a majority of that time.
