Charles Jourdain delighted the home folks in Canada, and he’s now $50,000 richer for his work.
The 29-year-old Canadian earned a “Performance of the Night” award for his finish of Davey Grant in a featured bantamweight bout at UFC Vancouver on Saturday night at the Rogers Center. Jourdain rattled the British veteran with a flying knee, then unloaded with punches before securing a guillotine choke to seal his victory at the 3:05 mark of Round 1.
Preliminary Bouts Get Bonus Recognition
Elsewhere, Drew Dober and Kyle Prepolec received “Fight of the Night” honors of $50,000 apiece for their spirited preliminary lightweight clash. After two competitive rounds, momentum shifted when Dober was deducted a point for a low blow in the final stanza. Following a pause in the action, Dober went on the offensive, overwhelming Prepolec with offense for a stoppage 1:16 into Round 3.
Finally, Qileng Aori took home the card’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check by making short work of Cody Gibson in a bantamweight tilt. Aori didn’t take long to drop his opponent with an overhand right, and he punctuated his victory with hammerfists on the floor just 21 seconds into the opening stanza.
