This is the UFC Vegas 83 live blog for Song Yadong vs. Chris Gutierrez, the bantamweight main event for Saturday’s card at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
After a stoppage loss to Cory Sandhagen in September 2022, Song bounced back with an incredible fifth-round finish of Ricky Simon in the main event of UFC Vegas 72 in April. The 26-year-old makes his 13th octagon appearance in search of his 10th UFC win — which includes victories over upcoming title challenger Marlon Vera, Marlon Moraes, and Casey Kenney.
Gutierrez also had a bounce back victory in his most recent outing when he picked up a unanimous decision win over Alatengheili in October. “El Guapo” is 8-2-1 since making his promotional debut, and has never been knocked out in his professional mixed martial arts career. Gutierrez picked up the biggest win of his career when he knocked out former world champ Frankie Edgar at UFC 281 in November 2022.
